COMMITTED TO STUDENT SUCCESS
I aim to continue my work as a Southwestern College Trustee, advocating for access to higher education, a safe place for students to discover their fullest potential, and supporting innovative policies geared toward student success. This leads to students acquiring better paying jobs, self-fulfillment and creating more connected communities.
Hi, I'm Kris!
I've been a proud South County resident since the age of 9, when the US Navy brought my family to San Diego. I was raised in Imperial Beach, a product of South Bay Union and SUHSD schools, graduating from Mar Vista High School.

I'm a micro-business owner and a staunch community advocate with a proud blue-collar family. As an immigrant, a proud longtime resident of South County and current Southwestern College Governing Board Vice President, I am deeply committed to ensuring that all students have equitable access to higher education which leads to better paying jobs, a stronger workforce and more opportunity.

I had a peculiar path through higher education, first attending SDSU, then Mesa College, and ultimately earning my B.S. in Advertising at the Art Institute of CA - San Diego. I am a reflection of the communities I serve and I know what can be made possible with fostering and supporting local talent.
Student excellence and student success is a by-product of great educators, innovative policy-making, a deep commitment to inclusion and ensuring students have a sense of belonging at Southwestern College campuses. Higher education opens doors and Southwestern College is a beacon of light for the current and future generations to come, creating stronger, empowered and more connected communities in South County. I aim to serve our students.
